In 2007, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 1,400 Sony made batteries used in Toshiba Tecra notebooks sold in the United States. The lithium-ion batteries had a tendency to overheat during extended use, which posed potential fire hazards for consumers. Earlier in the 2007, Toshiba recalled 5,100 laptop batteries worldwide. In 2009, however, there appears to be no such problem with new models.

Toshiba battery charger?
my toshiba a300 equium battery charger suddenly stopped working last night and i dont kno why. if i fiddle around with the connection to the laptop it can see that the charger is connected but then goes off if it is moved slightly. can anyone tell what the problem is? will i need to buy a new charger?? thanks
The problem could be at the Input. You might see this looking at the connection point as you move the connector a bit. If nothing seen, I was able to get a charger for my Toshiba inexpensively at BatteriesPlus when we left our charger 2000 miles away. It had 5-6 adapters that allowed use with both of our laptops and gave me one to leave in the living room and one in the office after we got back home.
Either replace, self-repair, or paid repair that could easily cost as much as a new one if the problem is in the charger. You could return the new charger if you find after trying a different charger that it is not the problem if you want.
