Computer Power Supply ATX?
I am helping a student fix his computer. It has an ATX power supply with an odd connection. There are two wires that connect to a 3 prong female. This wire fits onto the motherboard. When looking at newegg I can’t find any power supplies with this connector. What is this connection and what should I do. Suggestions please…
The connector on the motherboard may be marked “PS_FAN”. Some power supplies have a connector so that monitoring software can read the PSU fan speed in the same way as CPU fan and 3 pin connected Case fans.
If it is monitored and alarmed on, it may be necessary to turn the monitoring off (in BIOS or software) if there is no tacho signal, but it is not common to alarm on this, only on the CPU fan.
